Faculty Delivery Service Now Delivers VU and ILL Materials to Campus Offices
The Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries are cooperating to provide faculty with library deliveries and interlibrary loans through a single convenient service.
- When you log into your account in Acorn, you can use the "Delivery Request" button to request any item of interest (loan or copy).
- Circulating items will be delivered to you on campus, generally at your department's office. Once delivered, VU materials will appear in your account in Acorn along with other checked out loans.
- Your book delivery preferences are stored with your ILL user account information, so you need not specify on your request form.
- Articles are scanned and delivered electronically.
- If a requested item is not available in the Vanderbilt libraries, we will obtain it through interlibrary loan (ILL), or recall it, or have it rush processed, and we will deliver it as soon as it is available.
- If you request interlibrary loan of an item that we find available at Vanderbilt, we will retrieve the Vanderbilt copy for you.
- Please note that only materials that you could check out can be physically delivered. In some cases, noncirculating items can be placed on hold for you, and we are also happy to scan a specified portion (article, chapter, etc.) for electronic delivery.
TIPS AND MORE INFORMATION
- Delivery of loans and articles is generally within 2 working days of your request. Some items, such as materials in storage, may take longer, and we will contact you if we expect a substantial delay.
- Use the delivery request button in Acorn for fastest service - but you can use the interlibrary loan/document delivery request link in other catalogs and databases (Findit@VU), or complete an appropriate blank form directly in your ILL online account, if more convenient.
- If you request a large number of items, or don't use the online forms to submit requests, processing will of course take longer.
- Copy service (online delivery) is subject to copyright restrictions.
- If you prefer to have your requested items held for you to pick up at your campus library's circulation/service desk, please let us know. You can email us at
or log into your ILL online account to record your book delivery preference.
Faculty Delivery Service is available for Arts & Science, Divinity, Engineering, Management, Music, and Peabody faculty. The Law School Library provides service to Law School faculty directly, and the Biomedical Library offers a separate document delivery service for Medical and Nursing School faculty.
